Ed Dempsey Scholarship Fund Golf Outing May 12

Support the Local 1101 Ed Dempsey Scholarship Fund. This year's Golf Outing will be Friday, May 12 at Pelham Bay/Split Rock Golf Course, 870 Shore Road in the Bronx. Golfers: $165 per golfer. Registration is at 7am, tee off is at 8am. Dinner with 3 hour open bar. Dinner only guests are welcome: $60 per person.

Summer Camp Reimbursement Program 2017 - Verizon workers

The Summer Camp Reimbursement Program is run by the NY/NE Regional & Local Work and Family Committee, a joint CWA/Verizon committee. Summer Camp Reimbursement, and Dependent Care Reimbursement, are bargained for benefits. The 2017 Summer Camp includes summer day programs as well as overnight camp programs and is made available through the Local and NY/NE Regional Work & Family Committees.

Free tuition to SUNY and CUNY students whose families earn $125,000 or less a year

CWA Local 1101 joined Hillary Clinton at LaGuardia Community College in support of  Governor Cuomo's ceremonial signing of NYS's new free tuition program, The Excelsior Scholarship Program. The program was included as part of the states new budget and offers free tuition to SUNY and CUNY students whose families earn $125,000 or less a year.

One year ago we said: We will not give up our jobs, our pensions, our benefits.  We will not tolerate the harassment and excessive discipline of the QARs. Utility Locators Fight for First Contract

January 30, 2017. By Dan DiMaggio, Labor Notes.  Utility locators in New York City and Long Island are fighting for a first contract with United States Infrastructure Corporation. Members say the company has been stonewalling at the bargaining table, aiming to frustrate them into decertifying the union. Before utility companies can perform underground excavations, laws require that lines be marked aboveground. Locators induce a signal from underground lines, then spray paint the ground to guide utility workers when they dig.

Members of CWA Local 1101’s mobilization committee were at USIC headquarters in Hauppauge, Long Island before daybreak on Wednesday and Thursday this week with a message for USIC: “Bargain a fair contract for the locators now”. We brought a giant rat with us, to make sure everyone on Marcus Boulevard and beyond knew the truth: that USIC is not treating its workers fairly.
