CWA Local 1101 and a Giant Rat Expose USICs Mistreatment of Workers

USIC Workers Deserve a Fair and Equitable Contract NOW! Members of CWA Local 1101’s mobilization committee were at USIC headquarters in Hauppauge, Long Island before daybreak on Wednesday and Thursday this week with a message for USIC: “Bargain a fair contract for the locators now”. We brought a giant rat with us, to make sure everyone on Marcus Boulevard and beyond knew the truth: that USIC is not treating its workers fairly.

CWA Joe Beirne Foundation Scholarships 2017-2018

Applications for the CWA Joe Beirne Foundation's scholarship for the 2017-2018 school year are now open. The deadline to apply is April 29, 2017. The Foundation's Board of Directors has approved the awarding of fifteen (15) partial college scholarships of $3,000 each for two (2) years.

New Labor Studies Class: Contract Administration. Apply Now

The Contract Administration class will meet Tuesday evenings at 6:15pm beginning January 31.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about how contracts are negotiated, different approaches to solving workplace problems, and grievance procedures. Participants will discuss how to resolve problems that are contract-based by effectively using the grievance procedure, as well as strategies to increase member involvement and build the union.  Meet union members from other locals across the city as well as other CWA Local 1101 members.

Local 1101 to USIC: Bargain a Good Contract Now!

Workers at USIC who mark and locate for utility companies voted last November to join CWA Local 1101. We have been in bargaining for a first contract with USIC manager. But the employer is stonewalling and refusing to bargain a good contract.

Have You Mailed Your By-Laws Ballot Yet?

If you haven't received a ballot yet, call AAA 1-800-529-5218. Ballots for the By-Law Election are being mailed on or before September 12, 2016.  Any eligible member who has not received a ballot in the mail by September 19, 2016 or needs a new ballot, may request a new ballot by contacting the AAA at 1-800-529-5218.  If you request and return another ballot only the replacement will be counted.
