Fall 2015 Labor Studies Class: Arbitration

CWA Local 1101, in partnership with the Cornell-CUNY Labor Relations Program, will offer an Arbitration course in Fall 2015. This is a great opportunity to learn about grievance procedures, labor arbitration, and what factors arbitrators look at to resolve disputes. The course is open to all Local 1101 members.

Seeking Volunteers: St Margaret's House Garden Day

St. Margaret’s House is a Senior Center sponsored by the Parish of Trinity Church. Local 1101 volunteers from our Community Service Committee will be helping St Margaret's on Garden Day,  Saturday, May 15 from 9am to 12pm.  If you can come help work on the garden, trim plants and plant flowers, please let us know! CWA Local 1101 in Support of the Fight for $15 and a Union

CWA Local 1101 marched with thousands of labor and community activists April 15 to demand a raise in the minimum wage to $15 and union rights for all workers.  Tens of thousands of workers struck, rallied and marched in 236 cities across the United States.

Ed Dempsey Scholarship Fund Golf Outing May 8, 2015

The Local 1101 Ed Dempsey Scholarship Fund Golf Outing will be held Friday, May 8th, at Pelham Bay/Split Rock Golf Course. Registration begins at 9 am. Cost is $165 per golfer. Dinner only guests are welcome, $60.

CWA Members Turn Out in Force To Protect Our Contract

More than 1000 CWA members and retirees converged in front of Verizon corporate headquarters at 1095 Avenue of the Americas last night to tell Verizon “We remember 1989 and we’re ready to fight in 2015”. They came from as close as 42 Street, and as far as the Hudson Valley.

Technicians at G-Tech Vote to Join Local 1101

Technicians at G-TECH voted 19-8 today to join CWA Local 1101. The G-Tech workers install and maintain all of the lotto machines in New York City. The new unit will cover all five boroughs.

Local 1101 Election Results

Local 1101 members voted overwhelmingly to re-elect President Keith Purce, Secretary-Treasurer Kevin Condy, Business Agents Ken Beckett, Peter Torres, and Val Valentino. Heather Trainor was elected Business Agent for AT&T Mobility/Avaya and Bill Stefandel was elected Business Agent for Southern. (see results below).
