Governor Cuomo plans to cut state funding to CUNY by $485 million, despite a $1 billion state budget surplus. Since Cuomo took office, tuition at the City University of New York  has increased by 38-45%! That's outrageous. CUNY faculty and staff have been working without a contract or salary increase for more than six years.

IGT Slot Machine Technicians Vote to Join Local 1101

Ever been to a casino and wondered who services the slot machines? In Yonkers, Aqueduct and Monticello Casinos those technicians are now CWA Local 1101 members. Workers at International Game Technologies employed at those three casinos just voted to join Local 1101.

Spring 2016 Labor Studies Classes: Collective Bargaining & Contract Administration

CWA Local 1101, in partnership with the Cornell-CUNY Labor Relations Program, will offer a class on Collective Bargaining on Monday evenings, beginning February 1, 2015 and Contract Administration on Wednesday evenings, beginning February 3. New students must apply by January 8.

Nov 10 Day of Action: Fight for $15 & Union Rights

Join CWA on Tuesday, Nov 10 in support of the Fight for $15 and Union Rights. Rally at Foley Square in lower Manhattan, 4:30 - 6:00 pm. Fast food workers led a successful campaign to raise the fast food minimum wage to $15/hour earlier this year. Now the fight is for a $15 minimum wage for everyone. When we fight together we all win. These brave men and women are helping transform the debate on workers' rights. We've stood with them in the past, and we'll be there on November 10. Join us! We're all in this together.
