Local 1101 members voted overwhelmingly to re-elect President Keith Purce, Secretary-Treasurer Kevin Condy, Business Agents Ken Beckett, Peter Torres, and Val Valentino. Heather Trainor was elected Business Agent for AT&T Mobility/Avaya and Bill Stefandel was elected Business Agent for Southern. (see results below).

Negotiations over Verizon's "Special" EIPP

The Company has made an offer to further negotiate over the "Special" EIPP. They have also sent an e-mail to all of our members attempting to negotiate with the membership to try and divide us. The Union has agreed to re-open negotiations but the Company's action make these negotiations harder not easier.

Verizon Open Enrollment for 2015 Ends Nov 4, 2014

You should have received your information packet at home from Verizon. You can also view your benefits and make changes for 2015 at Verizon Benefits ConnectionThe 2015 Annual Open Enrollment Dates are as follows: Active members: Oct 21, 2014 - Nov 4, 2014; Retired members: Nov 6, 2014 - Nov 20, 2014.  Retirees can continue to make changes up through December 1, 2014 to be effective January 1, 2015.

Local 1101 Officers Election

If you haven't received a ballot yet call 800-529-5218. Ballots were mailed to all eligible members on October 15, 2014. Any eligible member who has not received a ballot in the mail, at home, may request a duplicate ballot beginning October 22, 2014 by calling the American Arbitration Association (AAA) at 800 529-5218.

Update on Verizon Special Offer

From Dennis Trainor, District 1 Assistant to Vice President Chris Shelton. Two weeks ago, the Company approached CWA with a special incentive offer for certain members to leave the payroll. This offer was identical to the offer that CWA rejected last year with a few exceptions.

New Members of Local 1101 Win First Contract

NYC MetroPCS workers vote yes on first contract. Just over a year ago the workers of Metro PCS/T-Mobile in the Lexington Avenue store, NYC, set out to form a union. When they started they had three major issues they wanted to see addressed: fair scheduling, job security, and respect from management.

Verizon's Latest EIPP Offer

CWA District 1, October 10, 2014. Memo from Dennis Trainor, Assistant to Chris Shelton, Vice President, District One. We have received a proposal from Verizon regarding a surplus offer. One of the provisions of the Company's proposal is to offer an option to make this offer on a local by local basis. The National Union has told the Company that we are not interested in dividing our Union in this way.
