Local 1101 Members Testify at Safe Staffing Hearing

Local 1101 members from Arms Acres and Conifer Park testified at a public hearing yesterday in lower Manhattan on the need for safe staffing. Elizabeth Maghliocca of Conifer Park and Valerie Smith of Arms Acres testified at the New York State Department of Health hearing, part of a study on whether safe staffing ratios are necessary.

RIP Al Lee, former CWA 1101 Executive Board member

It is with deep sorrow we post the news of Al Lee's passing. Al began working at the phone company in 1966 and was a Member, Steward, Chief Steward, and Secretary of the CWA Local 1101 Executive Board from 1996-2003. We'll post more about Al's contributions to the Local soon, but in the meantime we wanted to share the arrangements for his viewing and funeral here.

Researchers at Drexel University are studying the views of labor members and leaders regarding what type of energy should be used to power the U.S. They are conducting recorded interviews with union members to learn their views on fossil fuel energy and renewable energy systems.
