CWA Members win Call Center Job Protections in New Jersey!

Thanks to four years of hard work and dedication from CWA members in New Jersey, this week Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation to protect New Jersey call center jobs. CWA members worked alongside members of the state AFL-CIO and IBEW Local 827 to get the bill across the finish line.

Commemorating Dr Martin Luther King, Jr: All Labor Has Dignity

Today, January 20, 2020 we honor and recognize the life and work of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. 'On March 18, 1968 Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his speech “All Labor Has Dignity” at Bishop Charles Mason Temple of the Church of God in Christ in Memphis, Tennessee. The church was overflowing with sanitation workers on strike and their supporters.

NABET-CWA Workers Win $76 Million NLRB Settlement

NABET-CWA, a sector of the Communications Workers of America, and its Local 11 (New York) and Local 31 (Washington, D.C.), have negotiated one of the largest back pay settlements in the 84-year history of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), requiring CNN America, Inc. to pay a total of $76 million to hundreds of broadcast technicians who were fired when CNN terminated its subcontract with union-represented employees at Team Video Services (TVS).

Local 1101 testifies at NYC Council Hearing; Suffolk County passes sleep requirement

Members of CWA Local 1101 testified at the New York City Council Transportation Committee meeting last week on two pieces of legislation we've been working hard to get passed in NYC. One would prohibit on-call scheduling and implement sleep protections, and the other would ensure adequate training for utility workers.
