Verizon Corporate Profit Sharing Award

The Corporate Profit Sharing Award will be distributed March 13, 2015. Deadline to defer is February 5, 2015. Members should have received a letter from Verizon stating that the Corporate Profit Sharing Award will be paid to eligible employees on March 13 in your regularly scheduled paycheck. The actual amount of the award will be announced in March.

New Labor Studies Class: Contract Administration

The next Labor Studies class at the Local will be Contract Administration.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about how contracts are negotiated, different approaches to solving workplace problems, and grievance procedures.  The class is part of the CUNY/Cornell Labor Studies Certificate Program, and members earn 4 college-level credits. Class starts Monday, February 2 at 5:30pm.

Grievance Over AT&T Mobility Removal of Chairs Resolved, Big Win for CWA Members

As a result of the grievance filed by certain California employees and an arbitration award in that case dated March 31, 2010, AT&T was required to bargain with CWA over its previous removal of seating in its stores and to compensate the employees for removing the seating.  In bargaining,  AT&T agreed to pay $250 to every Retail Sales Consultant and Sales Support Representative in the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands who are ON THE PAYROLL on the "effective date".

Joe Beirne Foundation College Scholarships Now Being Accepted

Applications are now being accepted through April 30, 2015, for the CWA Joe Beirne Foundation's annual scholarship offerings for the 2015-2016 school year. The Foundation's Board of Directors has approved the awarding of fifteen (15) partial college scholarships of up to $3,000 each, and the winners also will receive second-year scholarships for the same amount, contingent upon satisfactory academic achievement.

Verizon Declares Surplus - Process Change

Verizon has declared a surplus in FAAs 1-6.  This surplus  has been determined by the Company to be due to a process change, not an external event. The provisions of FAP Articles 8(b) and 10 will not apply. CWA Local 1101 titles affected by the surplus appear in column marked FAA1.

Technicians at G-Tech Vote to Join Local 1101

Technicians at G-TECH voted 19-8 today to join CWA Local 1101. The G-Tech workers install and maintain all of the lotto machines in New York City. The new unit will cover all five boroughs.

Local 1101 Election Results

Local 1101 members voted overwhelmingly to re-elect President Keith Purce, Secretary-Treasurer Kevin Condy, Business Agents Ken Beckett, Peter Torres, and Val Valentino. Heather Trainor was elected Business Agent for AT&T Mobility/Avaya and Bill Stefandel was elected Business Agent for Southern. (see results below).
