In Memoriam
Dear members, It is with a heavy heart that I write to you to commemorate two CWA Local 1101 members who we lost to COVID-19 this week. Sonny Aravena was a splicer out of Exterior Street, and Richard Stewart-Johnson was a Parking Production Assistant.
They both died much too young and leave behind many family and friends in deep mourning.
This pandemic has turned all of our lives upside down, none more so than the families of Sonny and Richard. Please know that we are here to help in whatever way we can. We are working hard to address health and safety issues, as well as benefit and leave issues for all our members. We have members working on the front lines in health care, telecom, wireless retail stores, and utilities. We have members who are facing the challenges of working from home, and members who are unemployed. We are working hard to address health and safety issues, as well as benefit and leave issues for all our members.
If you need help, please reach out to your Steward, your Chief Steward, your Business Agent, or call the Local at 212-633-2666 (Manhattan) or 718-823-7330 (Bronx).
Please read the memorials to Sonny and Richard posted below. We are a big local, we may not all know one another, but we are one 1101 family and we mourn together.
In solidarity,
Keith Purce, President
