RIP Ralph Rescigno
Ralph Rescigno III died of COVID-19 on January 24, 2021 at Montefiore Hospital. Ralph was born in Yonkers, New York. He’s survived by his brother Robert Rescigno, his sister-in-law Anna and a niece and nephew.
Ralph started at the phone company in 1972 as an Engineering Drafter. Ralph was in his 49th year at Verizon when he died. He was a longtime member of CWA Local 1105, and most recently a member of Local 1101. Before he started at the phone company Ralph was in the army, stationed in Colorado. He had some prior training in drafting before taking the job.
Ralph worked most recently as a Drafter at Cruger Avenue in the Bronx. His co-worker and longtime friend Rodney Fulmore described Ralph as a very dedicated person. “Ralph loved his job. When his office was going to move to a different location Ralph started driving to the new location every day the week before the move, so he’d be familiar with the route and wouldn’t be late," Rodney recalled. Ralph wasn’t just consistent in his work life. “He did the same thing every Saturday, ate at the same Mexican restaurant every Saturday night," Rodney recalled. “He was a very structured person.”
Ralph’s nickname was Cowboy. His apartment was decked out with cowboy paraphernalia. Rodney described the custom horse and carriage scene Ralph had custom painted onto the back of his truck. Ralph was also an avid fisherman. He liked to take fishing expeditions on the Island Current party boat out of City Island.
RIP Ralph. You will be missed.
