Sept 11th 20 Year Anniversary - Local 1101 Member Voices from Ground Zero

This September 11th marks 20 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Nearly 3,000 people were killed and countless wounded.  Many Local 1101 members are living with the terrible memories of that day. We've lost members to 9/11 related illnesses, and many are dealing with the long-term health effects of their time working at Ground Zero.  

In addition to the human tragedy, the entire infrastructure of lower Manhattan, including the telecommunications network, was decimated. Thousands of CWA members worked around the clock in the days, weeks, and months that followed rebuilding the network.

On the 20 year anniversary of 9/11, we want to share the stories of some of the Local 1101 members who worked at or near Ground Zero to make that happen.

Were you working downtown on Sept 11, 2001? Did you work at or near Ground Zero afterward? Did you have a role in the network restoration in some capacity? We want to hear your story.

We've set up a platform to record and upload a short video describing your experience. It can be about the day of Sept 11, work you did in or around Ground Zero, your experience with the World Trade Center Health Program, or a memory of someone we've lost to a 9/11 related illnesses.
