Thank you; Join our CWA Election Volunteers
The last five months have been unprecedented in many ways. We’ve faced challenges that might have been unimaginable a year ago and millions of Americans — including many of our members — are struggling with layoffs and furloughs and the fear of what comes next.
But we’ve also seen incredible strength and solidarity over the last five months — especially from you. CWA has been fighting for the HEROES Act to bring much needed relief to millions of workers throughout the country, as well as funding for healthcare centers, COVID testing, and State programs that are vital in tackling the COVID-19 crisis. While the Senate leadership has dragged their feet, you stepped up and took action.
In total over the last two months, we held a whopping EIGHTEEN phonebanks, made 5,488 calls, and patched through 506 people to speak with their Senator and advocate for the HEROES Act!
This has been an extraordinary effort — literally. In the wake of the pandemic, we had to learn a whole new way of phonebanking and communicating with members and with voters across the country. But you adapted on the fly and made a record number of calls.
The bad news is that Senate leadership is STILL dragging their feet and insisting on unacceptable reductions in funding for workers filing for Unemployment Insurance, healthcare centers, testing, and State funding, while prioritizing liability protections for employers.
But our work over the last few months has been absolutely vital in another important way: we spoke with hundreds of voters in an important battleground state — Ohio — about how their Senator has been letting them down ahead of the most important General Election of our time. Education is going to be a huge part of this election, and because of our efforts during the HEROES Act phone banks, we’re already ahead of the game.
Now let's keep that momentum going:
Thanks again to all of our awesome volunteers! Your efforts have been inspiring. We look forward to seeing you again as we start phonebanking for some great pro-worker candidates in the 2020 General Election!
