CWAers Win Labor Protections in Historic Broadband Infrastructure Agreement

In a first for federal broadband investment, the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which passed the Senate this week, includes protections for workers in the telecommunications industry. This historic legislation includes $65 billion in funding to support the expansion and affordability of broadband deployment and prioritizes funding for responsible employers with high labor standards.

Did you work or live near Ground Zero? It's not too late to sign up for the WTC Health Program & VCF

If you lived or worked near Ground Zero following 9/11, and never registered with the World Trade Center Health Program and/or the Victim Compensation Fund, it's not too late. You may have seen mention of a July 29, 2021 deadline, which applied to people with a 9/11 related illness certified by the WTCHP prior to July 29, 2019 who needed to file Victim Compensation Fund claim by 7/29/21. But if you never registered with the WTCHP, or are registered and have not registered with the VCF, you can still do both.

This September 11th marks 20 years since the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon. In addition to the human tragedy, the entire infrastructure of lower Manhattan, including the telecommunications network, was decimated. Thousands of CWA members worked around the clock in the days, weeks, and months that followed rebuilding the network. Did you have a role in the network restoration in some capacity? Verizon 3rd Quarter 2021 Surplus Declaration

Verizon New York Inc., Verizon Services Corp., and Empire City Subway Company (Ltd.), (collectively “the Company”) are declaring a surplus condition in twenty-three (23) titles within Force Adjustment Areas (“FAAs”) 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. The Company has also declared a surplus in the VSSI and VZB groups.
