Verizon Annual Enrollment Dates & Important Update on $100 Health Assessment Credit

The annual benefit enrollment dates for 2021 are October 6 - 15. Verizon employees should have already received an enrollment package in the mail from Verizon. To enroll go to BenefitsConnection through About You or at verizon.com/benefitsconnection. From the home page to Suggestions for you > Annual Enrollment > Enroll Now. From there you can update your tobacco user status, add or drop dependents and verify your beneficiaries. If you don't want to change anything your current benefits elections will automatically continue for 2021 (with the exception of the $100 credit for the health assessment. See below)

Mentorship Program: NY Diversity & Inclusion Task Force for Television & Film

NYDITF is an advocacy coalition of Television and Film professionals committed to addressing the lack of diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry in the New York/ New Jersey area. With a focus on Black, Indigenous/Hispanic, and People of Color (BIPOC) in our industry, we work to create pathways for equity and economic empowerment for all marginalized groups and encourage a more diverse, equitable and equal workplace for the film and television industry. The NYDITF is organizing a Mentorship Program to connect existing BIPOC film crew members with mentors in various production departments, to educate, promote and encourage upward mobility.

Welcoming Glitch Workers to Local 1101

In March Glitch workers voted to join Local 1101, part of a larger national CWA effort to organize workers in the tech industry. We talked to Sheridan Kates, who is a Senior Software Engineer at Glitch. Glitz laid off a number of its employees in March, and Sheridan talks about what having a union meant when that happened. Sheridan's excited about being in 1101. "Glitch is a platform for people who want to get a web application up and running in the simplest way possible. We build mini applications – a program to send text messages, a bot to integrate with Slack. Half of our people are in NYC and the other half are in other parts of the country. Those people were working remotely before COVID, now we all are.
