A Message to PPAs from CWA Local 1101

As many of you are aware, some members of the Motion Picture Industry have formed the Working in Silence No More Task Force. One of the goals of the task force is to highlight the inequality and injustices the PPAs face on the job. The Union has been in touch and engaged with the task force and agree with their message. We also welcome any support within the industry to improve the working conditions of the PPAs. With that being said, we would also like to highlight the progress the PPAs have fought so hard for, and achieved, through organizing and joining CWA.

The NYS Legislature is headed back to Albany and we need all hands on deck! Click here to tell your Assemblymember to pass our Broadband Data Collection bill! As COVID-19 has moved much of our lives online, the importance of access to universal, high-speed, affordable broadband has never been clearer. The pandemic has exacerbated the disadvantages faced by New Yorkers who already suffered from lack of or limited broadband service, from unaffordable prices, or from slow speeds and low-quality service.

Recently, we got word from AT&T that they plan to permanently close more than 250 AT&T Mobility and Cricket Wireless stores and cut thousands of technician and clerical jobs across the country over the next few weeks. Union Plus Assistance for CWA Members including Met Life Legal and FreeCollege Program

CWA Members who currently have a Union Plus Mortgage, Credit Card, Personal Loan, or Supplemental Insurance programs may be eligible for additional hardship assistance through the Mortgage Assistance Program and Union Plus Hardship Help. The Union Plus Mortgage Assistance Program provides interest-free loans and a $1000 grant to help eligible members make mortgage payments when disabled, unemployed, furloughed, locked out or on strike.

Verizon Summer Camp Reimbursement Program is Open, and includes virtual camps

The 2020 Summer Camp reimbursement program includes summer day programs as well as overnight camp programs and is made available through the Local and NY/NE Regional Work & Family Committees, a joint labor management committee. Summer Camp and Dependent Care programs are bargained for benefits. Due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Company will be allowing employees the opportunity to apply for virtual summer camps this year.
